  1. Carnival Fantasy Class - these cruises are too old, small, ugly, and noisy. All the other Carnival classes are good. It's time for Fantasy Class to say bye and retire. Thanks...

The Fantasy is my very favorite ship - cruised her 12 times and wish she was still in NOLA - I'd be booking again right now.

  2. Yes I saw where you get the discount but like with our meals we will purchase a bottle and then have maybe a glass one night and then our waiter will bring us back the bottle the next night to have more. So I am curious if they see the bottle purchased how it will go against our 15 drinks for the day. Oh we have already purchased a 5 bottle wine pkg. for our up coming cruise.

I'm not sure what the confusion is - when you purchase the bottle, it doesn't count against your 15 drinks at all. You simply pay for it and get a 25% discount. Or you can choose to order by the glass and use your 15 drink allotment for each glass. If you purchase a whole bottle for dinner, you can't use your 15 drinks towards it, even if you just drink a glass at a time.

  3. Back from the Dream today. Platinum self assist began at 6:45 AM. It turned out my father couldn't pick us up until 9:30, so we did relaxed debarkation and didn't get off the ship until Zone 20 was called. It was great because our luggage was almost all alone in Zone 1 - it was a breeze to grab it and go. We worried about not using our VIP debarkation privileges since we are usually among the first to get off the ship and thought it might take forever to get through the customs line - but we were in the parking lot 23 minutes from when we stepped off the ship. Not bad at all.

  4. Just back from the Dream today.

Cheers is available for purchase on embarkation day and the first sea day. If you purchase on the first sea day you pay for 6 days of Cheers at 37.50 per day and any drinks you bought on day one stay on your bill as is.

While docked in NOLA and while traveling down the river, tax is charged one each drink. Came out to around 80 cents or so a drink while docked and 35 cents while still in the river. This was based on the nine dollar drinks we were buying.

You can absolutely get match plays with Cheers - my husband got about 60 of them over the course of the cruise. Used them while playing blackjack and won enough money to cover the cost of Cheers. Win/win!

Sodas and non alcoholic frozen drinks do not count towards the 15 drinks, but they are rung up, and you have to wait 5 minutes b/t purchasing cocktails and non alcoholic drinks.

We hit 15 drinks on 6 of the 7 days. Got our money's worth and then some even before the match plays. It was great.

  5. I think they also expect most kids under 12 will be in camp during the hours of the movies on Lido. I know mine always were! It was really nice to get that break from the kids and have some adult time. It's just another situation where they can't please everyone. Bottom line is, that is why there are children's activities throughout the day and evening - because honestly, there just aren't that many kid-friendly things happening around the ship, especially after dinner.

  6.

Other activities: Would really like it if they have more of the dance parties before 10pm. My DD & I love to dance (she loves the Cha Cha slide) but she is a morning person & up early so by 10pm she NEEDED to sleep. Other than sail away the parties are at night. Also disappointed about the movies played on big screen. They played kids movies one night- the 1st night (Frozen & Rio). Rest of cruise all the movies were PG-13. I understand adults want to watch movies too but would have been nice if at least one of the movies each night was a PG or G. Not judging others but for us personally we don’t allow our 5yr old to watch PG-13 (careful with some PG’s too lol) & every night she wanted to watch a movie we had to say no…. We were really excited about being on a ship with the movie screen. Maybe they play more kids movies during the summer when there are more kids on board...

I wish the nightclub would open a bit earlier, but then again, no one really shows up until close to midnight anyway, so I suppose that's why it opens when it does.

Regarding the movies, this is a lose/lose for Carnival. When they play kid/family movies, guest complain that the movies are geared to kids and the kids should be in camp. When they play more adult movies, guest complain that their kids can't watch with them. FWIW, I've found they tend to show a good mix of family and more adult movies. And I've never found they show anything that's just flat out inappropriate. The PG 13 movies often have content edited out to make sure it's appropriate, btw.

  7. Bottomless Bubbles card is for sodas only.

If you get Cheers, you don't pay for debarkation day, so you won't be paying twice for the same day. Cheers includes virgin frozen drinks as well as sodas. You can make your own float by getting a soda without ice and adding some ice cream on Lido. I do this at least once each cruise with Barq's.

I don't think all the ships have shakes, and those aren't included in the plans. Sunshine was the only cruise we noticed milkshakes being sold, but perhaps the coffee shops now make them? Not sure.

  8. I agree. We were in this cruise and I took my family for the first time. And although we had a good cruise when it came to night time entertainment when found ourselves bored. We don't dance or drink. So other than just sitting around after dinner or taking pictures or simply people watching, we didn't have much to so.

I was kind of disappointed as I've always had a great time at all times. This cruise nightly entertainment was not up to par. :/

On our last Carnival cruise, we did the following at night:

Comedians 5 of the 7 nights

    Hypnotist

    Close-up magic performance

    Regular magic show

    Karaoke

Played darts and shuffleboard in the Red Frog Pub (did this several nights, loved it)

Sat and watched the live music act on Promenade/Ocean Plaza

Hung out with new friends at the Alchemy Bar - several of whom we still talk to many months later. (Drinking not required, of course)

Late night ping pong and foosball on the sports deck

Enjoyed some time in the Serenity hot tub

I'm sure we did more - those are the things I remember off the top of my head. We didn't attend a single show in the main show lounge, so those would have been other things we could have done nearly every night.

I just fail to see how "not drinking or dancing" means there's nothing to do at night on a cruise. There are always *many things to do on a cruise at any given time - one's lack of desire to do any of those things is more of a personal issue than a problem with the entertainment options.

Years ago we felt there was a huge "gap" in pretty much anything going on between early seating dinner and the first evening show. These days there is so much more happening at any given time, and beyond that, there are other things you can do on your own that weren't available on the older ships. There was a time I began to feel a bit bored with cruising, but with the new ships and the new variety of things to do, my problem is usually picking just one thing to do at a time.
