I would also like to know what is the difference with Cabin 8410 on the Liberty of the Seas. We just booked this but I want to know exactly what the following on the RCCL website means:

Please note: Staterooms 8410 & 8710 have a single door with a window and limited ocean view.

Can you go out on the balcony and if so, how limited is the view? Can you fit chairs on the balconly and enjoy the view? Is the room bigger like some aft rooms on the corner tend to be?

cmh1919, just got off the phone with RCCI, they are expaining to me that instead of a slider, 2 panes of glass, it it a door, 1 pane of glass. The view out to the ocean, from the room, is obstructed in that you don't have 2 panes of glass. She said once on the deck, it's beautiful and no obstructed view to the ocean. It's too late for us to change rooms, there's nothing left; you decide if you want to call them. Or, you can wait until I get back Dec. 22, and I'll post for you.

Hi PantherFan, we will be neighbors! It's a long walk, but it's very helpful to combat all the food. I can't wait, we're showing 19 days, I can't fit into my gowns ... what a difference a year makes. Rather than buy a new bigger size, we may just skip formal night. Did you ever go to the Liberty thread? Nice people there, I can't wait. :p

PantherFan, just saw your question. No, your room will have 2 sliders with full view out to the ocean from inside.

Thanks:)

I read your post about formal night, we do the 1st one but I am not keen on the second one and I usually just wear a black dress (not only does it make me look slimmer--I practically disappear in the shadows :) )

Off topic--are you diamond by any chance?

Donna, aka PantherFan ... no, we're not Diamond, this is only our 4th cruise. I went and looked at the benefits though, I can't wait to get there. Are you Diamond? We have a cruise booked Mar. 28, 2009, which will make us Platinum, but I don't think I can wait that long between cruises. So far we have cruised every Dec., Mar. would be 15 months.:(

Kruzeagain posted that there are 50 people signed up for our M&M! That's quite a success story. 3 weeks; I should be on the treadmill !!!

pacruzer, I emailed you, thanks so much for the pic. Judy

We are diamond plus, the only thing you'll miss is the diamond lounge--nice view:) The robe & coupons are nothing special IMO

I was reading the bleach a thon thread and am having flashbacks of last year's Freedom Cruise. (We were one of the 400 that were stuck in a dump in the everglades then called ungracious by RCL for complaining)

We spent so much $$ last year with hotel, flights and having our 5 dogs at the kennel to have such a terrible trip. (Being in a smokey dump for 2 days does put a damper on the rest of the vacation.........then to hear people bragging (many from this board too) about being at the penthouse suite at Trump Tower etc...and being treated so nicely while others got the short end of the stick)

Even though the cruise is essentially "free" from that mess I am still having serious reservations (we still have to spend $$ on hotel, flights & kennel) .............don't mean to sound like a downer but I don't want to blow a lot of money again.

I hope if there are problems RCL will let us know before we fly down there....it really is hard to trust RCL.

sorry about the rant

JYL - thanks for the response. I am booked in May in 8410. I would love to see pics and hear your review of the room once you go. The RCCL rep I had on the phone had no idea what the difference was. I had to tell him what the website said about the single door/window and he was clueless.

We just returned from the Liberty in Oct and loved it and want to go back so booked again! We had a Promenade Family Stateroom which was great. Unfortunately, they haven't opened it up to 3 guests on this cruise like they did the last one.

Thanks, can't wait for your review and have a Wonderful cruise!

These are the pictures from Pacruzer, thanks so much, Rich.

To upload you go down to manage attachments, which is under where you post a response, choose your picture from your computer with browse, and then click upload. I hope they will enlarge when we click on them.

By the way, cmh1919, Rich said because of the one window the room was darker than most.

:D 18 days!!! :D Judy

It was the 3rd week in a row the Freedom came back with the noro outbreak and we arrived at the pier at 11:30am to be told that the ship would be docked for 2 days. After hearing that we could cancel or continue with the cruise with 50 % off a future cruise and a refund of 1/2 off back and that RCL would put people up for 2 days we agreed to stay. (We had already spent the night at the Intercontinental & paid our flight down & kennel $$$ we would not be getting back)

Since we had just got there we asked if we could go back to the Intercontinental since there was a sign and they were sending people there. We were told no that we had to stand in line. So we stood in line for 3 hours, helped people with their luggage, watched others cut the line, etc.. offered no water......well, when we finally got our turn they sent us to the Everglades.

The "resort" was a smoked filled casino without hot water, room service and a clean place to eat, the indoor swimming pool had brownish foam. Absolutely nothing to do there, signs did say entertainment but nothing was open and the "resort" was understaffed.

We didn't get our bags until 9pm and then my husband helped with a few others unload the 5 trucks.

We have not stayed in a $50. night hotel in 20 years. To really get my goat, we get onboard and people were bragging about where RCL put them up....Intercontinental, Hyatt, Trump etc... which was okay (good for them) it was the words from some people on this board and others when they kept saying "We thought RCL was so fair" no one from our resort said that or thought that.

When I told customer service how bad it was and all the things we did for others (while the paid hourly people sat on the trucks instead of helping people with their bags) I was told by RCL we were being ungracious.

I own a school so I do realize the noro virus can happen anywhere, but I do blame RCL for not having a back-up plan, it was posted on the mix & mingle the week before our cruise that hundreds of people were getting sick that week.

I honestly believe RCL could of called all of us and given us the choice to sail or not (They did it last May) instead they waited for the CDC to shut them down---it was not RCL's choice as they claim.

When I read the recent bleach a thon thread and how vague things seem, makes me wonder if they are trying to hide the cases now.

Sorry about the long story, we will be going on the Liberty but it will probably be our last cruise with RCL. (As diamond plus members we deserve and expect better from RCL)

Pantherfan -

We are going on Liberty in May and can't wait! Be sure to remember every little thing and tell us all about it! We have an aft corner cabin, deck 9 and would love to know if there is much blockage from the metal infrastructure.

Have a great cruise!

Hi Donna! I'd love to sneak in, do they check? I just read a great post about what's to love about RCI. It really does help to get in the right frame of mind. Did you see the pics? Have you had an aft before? We did our first cruise on the Splendour, it was really nice. Only problem was I was always afraid of what I was missing on deck. Maybe this time I'll be more relaxed. I don't know. Have you done the zip line? I want to talk about all your cruises, but I need to get some sleep. I will be home early tomorrow so I'll post then. You're coming to the M&M, right? Blue and gold beads I'm told.

Yeah, we did sign up for M&M.

We haven't signed up for any excursions since we have been to the western caribbean a dozen times.

Cozumel will be very festive since they will be celebrating Posadas and I like christmas decorations so we may break away from the pool to do some walking & shopping.

We like Labadee and am looking forward to hanging there. At Grand Cayman & Jamacia we don't think we will do anything.

My hubby loves to snorkel and has done a zip line before on other vacations. He may be interested in doing the zipline with you guys. (I am content being the photographer :) ) I tag along with him but, I know he doesn't like to do solo stuff.

I am trying to just pack 2 suitcases instead of the normal 3 since we will be coming back over Christmas weekend and I don't want to be hunting down our bags through New Year's :D

I agree that it does help to be in the right frame of mind and I am honestly trying really, really, hard to get past last year's terrible trip.

Maybe the people that will be going this year that were on last year's Freedom cruise will be more respectful and not mention how much RCL spoiled them last year.

We did meet some terrific people from the M&M board last year that is why I was so surprised that a few were so obnoxious and bragging.

I really like this board and find most everyone so helpful but when push comes to shove there are some that don't care about others and we witnessed it first hand last year.

I will work on my attitude today, I promise :D

Donna, The meet and mingle isn't til Sun morning @10:15! Seems like a long time to wait, I've never gone to one before; but I seem to like these people alot. Yes, you included ... :) I attached a picture of Katie & me so you could recognize us, this was last year leaving from Fl. Lauderdale. Don't know the lady in white. In my hand is a pina colada with mango, I can't remember what they call them, very tasty though.

I told you I had my issues with RCI also, I'll tell you when we meet. I wasn't trying to lecture, just saying that when you read all these negative things it does sort of taint the enthusiam. Let's just have a wonderful trip this time (my room is not the greatest again:mad:), but, we can still have a ball. Judy
