teachatthebeach Posted May 14, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 14, 2018 I was on Amazon shopping for a current adapter and got very confused. I need something to convert my US camera battery chargers (plugs, not USB) to the current in Barcelona. Do I need an adapter or a converter? Any recommendations? Also, will the USB ports in Barcelona work with my iphone charger or do those need a converter/adapter as well? Sorry, I'm not very tech savy! hkto Posted May 14, 2018 #2 Share Posted May 14, 2018 Adapter converts the plug and converter or transformer - the voltage. If your charger says 100-240V 50-60hz on the back then you need plug adapter. Most consumer electronics chargers (phone, laptop, tablet) are like that. If not then you need to find out the power output of the appliance and get transformer matching the output. In most cases it's cheaper to buy new one. Hairdryer that is not dual voltage will be a good example where new one is 10-15€. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
teachatthebeach Posted May 21, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted May 21, 2018 Thanks! I just need an adapter. The hotel and cruise ship both have hair dryers and my travel flat iron is dual voltage, so I’m good there. Thanks for explaining! GoTravelLife Posted May 28, 2018 #4 Share Posted May 28, 2018 We just returned from Spain- we took a very cool power adapter (not converter as all our items were dual voltage) and it worked out great. https://gotravellife.com/2018/05/27/spain-2018-part-1-barcelona-roses-cadaques-figueres-and-surrounding-areas/ just go to ‘other recommendations to prepare for this trip’ in the ranks of contents and it’s listed there along with a picture Hope it’s helpful Sent from my iPhone using Forums
