imacruizer Posted January 23, 2005 #1 Share Posted January 23, 2005 Hoping to get a report from those who sailed on the QM2 on January 15. Would love to hear details. How many formal and semi-formal nights? What did you do in St. Kitts? How was the embarkation and disembarkation in Fort Lauderdale? Please share your experience with those of us who plan to take this same cruise in the next few weeks. Thanks!
gardenbunny Posted January 24, 2005 #2 Share Posted January 24, 2005 I am just back from the 1/15 to 1/22. It was wonderful. Just to be on the QM2 was worth the price of admission. I don't understand how people had a bad experience. I found all the staff very friendly, no hiccups on anything, food was good and plentiful - if you couldn't find something you liked, it was your own fault with all the options available. We had table 269 late seating and our wait staff was excellent - Francisco from Portugal. However, they do move them around to other stations each cruise. We were in 5076 hull balcony Stair B and loved it. Gigi gave us great service - 5th floor is a good location w/ Stair B - you are only 2 up from 7th floor Kings' Court and 2 down to 3rd floor Britannia, Royal Court, etc. etc. Loved the 7th floor walk around deck - took lots of laps! The pools on the back are great - you must sit in the hot tub and watch the sunset! The shows were good - great costumes and good talent. The ports are OK - they don't compare to the Hawaiian islands - but if you want to shop for jewelry, they've got you covered! We took the ship's shore excursions and they were fine - felt we got our money's worth and they were handled well. We were late arriving due to airplane delay so we walked right through embarkation - disembarkation was good, too. Our card said to expect 10:30 and we were off by 9:15. It was a real treat to see the QM2 from our tenders (which went very well) - she is so big she makes the ocean look small. But she has such fantastic lines for a mega ship - all the other cruise ships in port just looked like large rectangular floating RV's - Hats off to Cunard for designing such a wonderful ocean liner - It really had the grand feeling of the 30's and 40's -
