How is Playa Palancar?

Does anyone have any info about Playa Palancar? We're trying to choose between it and Nachi.

We're interested in having lunch there. Any info on food and drinks would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

We were at Playa Palancar last Tuesday morning. It was the last day of our week stay in Cozumel. We wished several times that morning that we had tried it earlier in our stay.

Being further away from town, there were not many people there. I did ask Julio about how easily a cruise passenger could get a return taxi, and he produced a cell phone and said it was easily done.

We loved the beach there. It was quite, peaceful and very sandy. Lunch was wonderful. We had an order or chicken nachos that was enough for both of us.

We loved it. However, know that it is much different from Paradise Beach.

Judy,

Thanks for the info. We are definitely not Paradise Beach types, so Playa Palancar sounds perfect for us.

Do you happen to know how much they charge for a beer? What were the menu prices like.

Thanks!

Just happen to have by CanDo Cozumel Map handy. ;)

According the Laura ChickMap Beers 20p, Margarita 50p (delicious), Guacamole 50p, Quesadillas, 50 to 90p, Shrimp 150p, Fish 100p. We had chicken nachos which were not on the menu for 70p. (One order was enough for the two of us, but we like to graze while in Cozumel. LOL) :D

Laura recommends a Tik'n Xic fish dish that is native to the Yucatan for 100p. Service is wonderful. You just lie in a hammock and order and they bring the food to you.

We did not pay in pesos but rather used US dollars. Our change was given to us in US dollars, also.

Snorkle trips to Palancar Reef are available for $25 per person. Snuba is also available.

It is the perfect place to lie back and relax. No loud music. No water sports going on. There were no children there the day we were there. ;)

We did not go to Nachi-Cocom this trip but have been there several times on previous trips.

Nachi is an upscale beach club. It has a starfished shaped restautant, a pool, and a jacuzzi. According to the map....there is no admission charge but they require that each person spend a minimum of $10 in drink and food (which is easy to do). Open bar available for $27. Snorkle tours are available and there is a beach but IMO it is not as nice as Palancar.

Our experience is that there are lots of kids around. Especially in the pool and jacuzzi.

Our choice would be Playa Palancar.

Anything else?
