Pacific Sun N606 review by smurfette

Hello all,

We made it on to the boat -yah!!!! We pulled onto a Sydney street on the arvo that we were leaving, the kids saw the boat and yelled "the Pacific Sun" and I cried.................. What an overwhelming feeling to think that we had finally made it, and I am glad to report no pox.

We queued for about 1 and 1/2 hours as they were slow to put a through. OUr bags took forever to get to our room, but all in all we didn't care as we were there.

It took us a couple of days to settle into a routine of dropping kids off and picking them up and getting into a relax mode. We played beer quoits - actually I played coits, won the beer which my husband drank lol. I didn't realise I was good at that game.......

We played bingo and enjoyed the shows. Unfortunately we missed alot of the parties as they started at 10.30pm and we had the kids to bed at 10ish as they had to be rested for the island tours. This was about the only thing I was truely disappointed in as they could start the parties earlier for families and then when 2nd sitting came out they could just increase the size of the party.

I seriously don't know what we did but we didn't stop all holiday.

The islands were beautiful and I will review more later, but am feeling really dizzy today as I try and get my land legs - can you believe it, I didn't get sea sick but feel land sick....................

All in all a fantastic trip and I'm another hooked cruiser................

Sorry all for short note but like I said feeling starange on my land legs today.

I really don't know where to start by telling everyone about it all. My hubby and I really started to enjoy ourselves when we took our rose colourd glasses off. I felt like customer service wass lacking a bit - right down to I was told on the 3rd night that I couldn't have a glass of wine with my dinner as the restaurant had no glasses for our table, even though the table in front of ours had glasses. If I wanted a glass of wine I had to find a glass!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes our whole table dropped our jaws at this comment. But then I think it was Chaz that said something like laugh abut thingsd like this and don't let it ruin your holiday.

The kids loved Kids club and begged to go back there. OUr daughter has made a great new friend that she will keep in touch with. And we have made some great new friends as well which was fantastic.

The islands were beautiful with Isle of Pines my favourite followed by Vila. Noumea was great to try my high school french from way back, but very intimidating walking down the streets at siesta with all the islanders just watching you. The shore tours ran like clockwork with only one being 20 minutes late to pick us up - that was on Lifou. We didn't get to Mystery Island as the weather was too rough and the captain claimed it to be too dangerous - fair enough. Also if you pre-book tours then the $300 credit does not go on your cruise card but you end up in the negatives - learnt that one when my card was declined.

I have learnt how to gamble. I learnt how to play blackjack at the tables at the Casino, and the dealers were very patient in assisting you in learning which was great.

I had no trouble getting into the laundry however I was right there at 8am when it opened to get my laundry done. The ship offered 20 items cleaned and pressed for $25 two times on the ship.

The kids dineer was the same meal every night except for one small change of a meat. The vegies they were offeres squash most nights - yuk for them. The kids club staff eat this meal every night as well and they have said that they have eaten the same meal for 5 1/2 months. Poor things. At least lunch was different for the kids though.

It was beautiful to watch the sunrises from the front of the boat and to see the water in the middle of the ocean change to a beautiful sapphire blue colour. ah doesn't that sound romantic.....

The sunsets are beautiful too aren't they (or did you miss those because of dinner - sad face). Learning how to gamble, now that could be a problem, lol lol. We've never played the tables so might give it a go this time around.

When's the next cruise??? lol lol

Glad you had a great time smurfette, what are we going to do to make you say ship not boat  ,what about the new ship dawn princess next year that looks good.I might be tempted myself, will have to see how much I spend on my big trip to the Med later this year.

shame you missed Mystery,it has lovely snorkelling. I wouldn't think a cruise up the coast would be much.Much better to fly up there and stay at cairns.
