Day boat tours of the Stockholm Archipelago - any recommendations?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm super frustrated that NCL changed my June 16 sailing on the Breakaway from sailing into Stockholm, followed by a day cruising the Archipelago to...now docking in Nysashamn. Knew it might be a risk due to weather on such a big ship, but the fact that they announce the port change just after final payment was due, seems deceptive to me. But that's a rant for another board ;)

So, I'm still determined to see this beautiful Archipelago! Has anyone taken day trip boat tours of the Archipelago? If so, what company did you sail with? To what island? Likes/dislikes?

Stromma offers several types and would love some advice! https://www.stromma.se/en/stockholm/excursions/the-archipelago-on-your-own/

Many thanks!

I've been on the brunch cruise on S/S Stockholm (in reality it's a motor ship though) and I thought it was really nice.

It departs at noon and will be out for 3 hours so you only have time to do one thing in the morning (like Vasa)

and maybe a quick thing afterwards. https://www.stromma.se/en/stockholm/dining-cruises/brunch-cruises/brunch-with-ss-stockholm/

It will go from Strandvägen to Vaxholm (no disembarking) and back.

It only goes and Saturdays and Sundays but June 16th is a Saturday so that should work.

It is a bout 1 km walk from Vasa to Strandvägen berth no 16.

  • 1 month later...

There is always the public shipping company, called Waxholmsbolaget, operating several modern ships and two steamships (Norrskär and Storskär).

A trip to Vaxholm takes just over an hour (one way) and costs 158 SEK return. It is not possible to book in advance. Tickets are bought on board. All ships have a cafeteria and the steamers also have a restaurant.

June 23 is a Sunday in the timetable.
