Shore excursions in Las Palmas Canary Islands

Has anyone here been in Las Palmas, Canary Islands? We will be making a two day stop there on the QE2 next month. Would like to know about local companies offering excursions around the Island. Tried to get some information through the Internet, but have not been successful. Is hiring a taxi the thing to do? We both speak Spanish, so language is not a problem. Any suggestions, comments , etc; will be much appreciated. Any "must see" or do?
