thechandlers99 Posted June 19, 2018 #1 Share Posted June 19, 2018 I have read conflicting info recently regarding the potty training rules for OC. My son will be a little over 3 when we sail and I focusing on getting him potty trained but if he isn't will he still be allowed to participate? moki'smommy Posted June 20, 2018 #2 Share Posted June 20, 2018 I'm going to not respond to the toilet training requirements as they seem to vary and we haven't cruised with a little one for some time. However, DCL treats toilet training as an "all or none" which moms know is not accurate. It is an ongoing process. Set the kid up for success--he must go before he is allowed in the OC, and then you return in an hour or so to check on him and take him to the restroom. Rinse and repeat. This isn't lying. The fact is that a child may have been dry for months at home, but on the ship he gets involved in playing and "forgets." And unlike some pre-schools, the kids are not reminded or taken as a group at a certain time. Also, you need to be aware that the Ocenaeer's Club is overwhelming to some little ones. Take him during the open house hours on the first afternoon--you'll have to stay with him then. And make his first drop off visit a short one. If he wants to stay when you show up, great. If not, you didn't stress him much.
