Mardi Gras 2006 dates

The dates for next year's Mardi Gras celebrations are the last weekend of Feb. and the first weekend of March. Fat Tuesday is actually Feb. 28th. I had trouble booking a decent priced room in Galveston on Feb. 26, 2006 because of the high demand for rooms in the area and I'm sure if Galveston is pricey and filling up, then New Orleans must be horrible. Just wanted to warn those of you cruising next year around that time to reserve your rooms early if you're arriving a day ahead of your cruise departure. And be prepared to pay a higher price with a possible minimum 2 night stay.
