NB Featherlite Folding scooter question

Has anyone experience with flying with the No Boundries Featherlite folding scooter? We are about to take our first trip with one. It folds up nicely but I worry about it being damaged when they try to put it in the hold. We can't decide between gate check or counter check. It is a bit heavy (about 67 lbs.) and the ways to pick it up are not totally obvious. Any advice or info would be appreciated.

Check with your airline. Most of the airlines have lots of practice with these things.

Using counter check and then wheelchaired to the gate you can have more control over how it is handled. Gate check in you are more at the mercy of the baggage handlers.

Print out instructions and tape them to the scooter is one extra suggestion.
