Hotels in Galveston

Can anyone recommend a really good hotel in Galveston? I need to arrange transportation from Hobby to Galveston. Does anyone have any experience with the Limousine services in Houston/Galveston?

Lougee,
We're taking the Panama Canal Cruise from Galveston on April 2,2005. Stopping at Cozumel, Belize, Puerto Limom. Montego Bay, and Grand Cayman.

I'm trying to determine the best way to get from Hobby Airport to Galveston and back after the cruise. I'm thinking that a limo may be the easiest but also the most expensive.

we are on the 3/21/05 sail
having done my homework i can answer your question-- hobby is about 35 miles from galv (im flying into bush -couldnt get a decent connection) there are only 2 natl rental car agencies in galv- hertz and enterprise- enterprise is the cheapest even with its 25.00 drop off fee - we are flying in on sat and renting a car for 2 nites from enterprise and its about the same as renting from hertz for one -- hope this helps

on the email address i posted earlier you might want to try galveston limo- i believe that they have a shuttle bus from hobby to galv and return

Can anyone give me some information on these hotels in Galveston:

Tremont - seems fairly close to the cruise pier
Galvez - pics of the Galvez are beautiful. It is only 5-6 mins from the pier
Harbor house - seems closer still to the pier.

Has anyone had any experience with these the hotels?

I'm not familar with the Tremont but can highly recommend the Galvez and Harbour House. The latter is right on the pier and you can watch your ship come in the morning of your trip and within walking distance of several good restaurants.

:) [font=Comic Sans MS][size=3]We've stayed at the Harbor House for our previous cruise. Exceptional! Large spacious rooms, attentive and knowledgable staff, and a 5 min. walk to the terminal. The price was a good value we felt, and we left our car in the well-lit parking lot for 20.00 dollars, which I'd do again. Many nice restaurants close by and is located in the Strand District (historic).[/size][/font]

[font=Comic Sans MS][size=3]The hotel allowed us to use their luggage dolly to transport our things to the termnal, and when we returned one of the porters helped us back to the parking lot (20.00...our choice)...that was a big help![/size][/font]
