Galveston traffic this weekend

Just wanted to warn Conquest cruisers for this weekend ( 7/9/06) that there may be some traffic problems.:eek: The great state of Texas is doing some demolation on the causeway to Galveston from Houston Sunday morning. There may be delays so allow some extra time.

Have fun. I was on the Conquest in April. Had a blast!:)

Causeway demolition to begin

Traffic will be stopped for about a half-hour Sunday

The first of 10 underwater blasts to demolish piers that supported part of the former Galveston Causeway is scheduled for 8 a.m. Sunday.

Traffic on the remaining half of the old causeway and the completed half of a new one being built alongside it will be halted for about 30 minutes, said Texas Department of Transportation spokesman Norm Wigington.

My understanding is they will be doing this for the next couple of weeks (one per week?) as they did this last Sunday as well.
