We stayed there post cruise 10/24-25.Booked thru priceline for $75 a night plus tax and booking fee...all toll $177. I have read many mixed reviews but took a chance....turned out to be quite a pleasant suprise!

Grabbed a cab from the ship and arrived at 11am ...expecting the worse as with previous SJ hotels that we would be lucky to get a room untill 4pm, I went up to the counter and in less than a minute I had room keys and a pair of free drink coupons for the bar!! WOW...I had a smile on my face a mile wide,I have never checked in so fast anywhere.

Turns out most of the rooms were remodeled in 2003 and our room was no exception. The room was very large with a king size bed,2 living room chairs, ottaman, and floor table. It also had a work desk station. Nice tv with HBO,alarm clock radio, hair dryer, ironing board and in-room coffee maker. The room was nicely decorated and spotless.Bathroom was marble counters, the shower worked great with plenty of towels to be had and included Spa type toiletries. It also had an obstructed view balcony. A/C worked almost to good..had to run it at the lowest setting.

Cabs were always available, but we actually walked all the way to Old San Juan one day!!(it is a very long walk!!).Plenty of shops and restuarants right near the Hotel. The beach is right behind the hotel about a 1 block walk.

The Casino gods weren't looking down on us here or on our cruise. Slot machines were extremely stingy..Vegas was much better. Can't win everytime.

They had a decent size roof top pool with lots of loungers and towels. There was a hot tub,but it was not working. They have a bar..but it was not staffed, probably due to being low season.

I give the place two thumbs up...it was a great value in a good location. Taxi rides to just about everywhere we went seemed to run $10 to $12 plus tip.

A side note...I saw police everywhere,at all time...very well patrolled!

Also quite a few homeless people roaming around or passed out under a tree or park bench.

Thanks for the info. We're staying there in about two weeks with the same rate won through Pricceline. I was bummed when I found out which one I had won, but it hopefully will work out for the best. Do you know if there was a car rental agency located near the hotel?

We stayed there pre-cruise on Nov 26th and had a great experience. The street the hotel is located on had a convenience store, Walgreens, plenty of restaurants and ice cream places and even a Starbucks within a short walking distance. The staff was extremely friendly and even upgraded us to a room on the concierge level. I recommend this hotel! We got it thru priceline too.
