Cruising from Mobile...can we only fly into Mobile??

Checking on prices of flight into Mobile, they are running over $500! Crazy...I know departing from Galveston we flew into somewhere else and drove down so I was wondering if you can fly into a bigger airport near Mobile and drive down that may save some $$??

I have a friend who lives in Mobile and I have to hunt for good prices when I fly down to visit.

 

There are a few airports you can fly into depending on your tolerance for driving.

 

Gulfport, MI is about an hour from Mobile.

New Orleans, LA is about 2 hours from Mobile.

Pensacola, FL is about 2 hours (maybe 1 1/2) hours from Mobile.

PNS is much cheaper, and is just a little over an hour from the cruise terminal via I-10.

Part of why PNS is cheaper is because AirTran serves PNS but not MOB. Book soon! The airlines are sticking it to us in higher bag fees again!
