We plan on going to Cocoa Beach in Port Canaveral, do we just hail a cab at the Port? Also, what is there to do in Freeport? We didnt book anything there, so we are going to play it by ear...would just like some suggestions of what to do? We are only there from 7am-2pm

Yes you can definitely catch a cab at the port. Finding one to get back might be a little more difficult, but someone else might have a better idea for you. I live in the area but haven't been up that way recently to know if there are taxis around waiting for fares.

As for Freeport - you'll definitely need to take a taxi/shuttle to wherever you want to go. The ship docks at an industrial port and there is close to nothing within walking distance. They recently built a small shopping/welcome center at the dock but really it's not much of anything. Most people head to Our Lucaya which has nice beaches, hotels and bars on one side of the road and a big shopping village on the other side of the road (also with restaurants and bars). If you have nothing scheduled that's probably a good place to go because you can blow a couple hours doing some shopping, eating/drinking and/or lounging on the beach.

Yep, we are headed to Our Lucaya in Freeport. Heard you can just take a taxi there for about $6 and enjoy the free beach.

We were just there in September and wish someone gave me more information than I had at the time. We took the taxi (4 people = $20) to Lucuya Beach. There is some shopping nearby if that is what you like. Then we headed to the beach. Kids swam, there was parasailing, snorkling (they take you out to a float and you snorkle as long as you like then shuttle you back to shore), waverunners (not sure of cost of those things). My kids took a banana boat ride (large inflatable thing that looks like a banana and is pulled by a boat) and loved it. $10 each kid. There is a fast one and a slower one. Too bad we had to be back by 2pm. Enjoy
