cruise stops at Bangkok and Phuket, info required

I am going on a costa cruise in March 2011, which has over night stops at Bangkok and Phuket.

I am looking for info re transport from where the cruise ship docks, to both of above places.

I believe that it is a 2 hour drive from port to Bangkok, and 1.30 hrs from port to Phuket.

I do not wish to utilise any of the ship excursions, so am wondering about taxi fares for above journeys, and if taxis are readily available at the ports.

Rail or other road transport may be considered if available.
