Explorer of the Seas question

Hi Mared,

Just was on the ship in November. She is beautiful. The promenade rooms are nice just remember when you change your clothes, you really need to close the curtains. Other than that, it is a nice room. Just alittle smaller.

The food was good. Entertainment was good too. The Crown & Kettle on the Promenade was a great place for music and a cocktail. Don plays a i man band there. Or if you like jazz, you can go up to Dizzy Gillespi on the 14 deck.

There is an ice skating rink, a rock climbing wall, in-line skating, a 9 hole miniature golf course anda full court basketball court.

If you have any other questions please ask

Hi - We just got back from the April 3rd cruise of the Eastern Caribbean on the Explorer of the Seas. We absolutely loved it. We had previously sailed on the Enchantment of the Seas and I was a little concerned about whether this larger class ship would lose some of the charater of the smaller Enchantment. We were pleased to find that the larger Voyager class ship had all the advantages of a larger ship, but didn't really feel that much bigger. It was an easy ship to find your way around on.

We had a balcony room on deck 6 and loved it. The food, entertainment and service were great. We were in a group of two families with a total of 4 kids (girls 18, 17 and 14 and a boy 14) and the kids had a great time. Our waiter Jomas was absolutely wonderful. The promenade rooms seemed to be a convenient place to watch the parades, but you do have to be careful what you are doing in there with the drapes open.

The ice show was entertaining, as was the Beatles tribute band. In fact we thought all of the shows we attended were good entertainment.

The Schooner piano bar was fun and the view from Dizzies Jazz Bar on Deck 14 is incredible. The cafe promenade was a great place to get pastries in the morning and little sandwiches later in the day and coffee/tea/ice water anytime. There was free coffee or you could pay for an espresso drink at the Seattle's Best espresso bar.

Find your way out to the Helipad on the bow of the ship. You have to go through Maharajas Lounge (go in through the main doors and make an immediate exit to the right), and it can be difficult to find but it is worth the effort.

Have a great time. We Did!

I second the opinion on Explorer. We really enjoy the ship. She is also scheduled for a week in dry dock this fall, so she will be fresh for your sailing. We also enjoyed Portofino and Johnny Rockets. Our experiences have been great!!!

Hi PualWN,

My family have been on 3 Carnival cruises and frankly got board with them for lack of things to do for the kids. We have 1 boy 17 & 2 girls 9 & 14. We normally take just an inboard cabin because we only to there to sleep. This time our big guy isn't joining us, should we look for an upgrade on this ship? Will the girls have a lot of fun?

Thanks,

MBWebman
