JsJourneys Posted June 15, 2012 #1 Share Posted June 15, 2012 Hello! Sailing on the Viking River Cruises "Pride" Jul 04 Paris / Normandy / Paris. It docks at Pont Mirabeau on the Seine which appears to be somewhat southwest of the Eiffel Tower. Does anyone know: How far it is to Eiffel Tower? Is there anything interesting for cruisers to see or walk to near the dock?...there is some free time while docked in Paris. Is there transportation from the dock to areas of interest? Can one see the Eiffel Tower from the ship at Pont Mirabeau? Thanks!
beverlyjack Posted June 15, 2012 #2 Share Posted June 15, 2012 We were in Paris on Grand Circle's Bizet in April, and the Viking Pride was tied up along side of us. The dock is on Port de Javal Bas, an industrial but safe roadway on the left bank, with a concrete plant adjacent. It is right at and accessible to Parc Andre Cirtroen. It is about a mile and a quarter from the Eiffel tower and you can see it from the ship. There is a RER and a metro station at the bridge upstream of the ship, about 1/3 of a mile. There is another RER stop, a bus stop and a bicycle rental station at the bridge downstream of the ship, also about a third of a mile. In parc Andre Citroen is a tethered helium balloon ride. You can see it on the map. You can take a RER train from either of these stations to Versailles, Here is a MAP of the docking area, you can see a couple of ships tied up.
