Wine package

How does the wine package work. There was a list of wines on the different packages. I would think we would use this just at dinner. The package lists specific wines in wine package. Will they be the same wines when we get on the cruise. and if not how will we know what wines are the basic and deluxe?

Also, for those who have done the wine package, does it really save money?

We did a 6 day cruise at Christmas time last year. The waiter offered the wine package at the first dinner. We purchased the 5 wine, regular wine package for about $120 (I think it has gone up since then, not sure). We had a "ticket" for each night and decided at dinner which one of the available wines we wanted, and told the waiter. That was about $24 a bottle, which is better than buying individual bottles on board. We dring a bottle with dinner, so it was a savings for us. You can only bring onboard 2 bottles for 2 adults, and could be charged a $10 corkage fee, so we thought it was worth it for a 6 night cruise.

We are going on a 3 night cruise at the end of August, the 3 wine package was $77 for the regular list ~$26 a bottle. We have decided to just make do with our 2 bottles from home. We will probably just carry a glass into dinner to avoid the $10 corkage fee as well.

My conclusion is that it makes sense on a longer cruise, but probably not on short ones.

So , switch the wine package do you have to hold on to the coupons or is it on your sail card?

You get coupons for it, just like the drink coupons and the wines that you are eligible to redeem it for are listed on the back of the coupons. The wines available depend on which level you purchase. We always buy it and get the lowest level, there are some decent wines on there. Nothing super fancy but a decent glass of wine.
