Taking Barbados Advice on distilleries and beaches!

Dear All Who Have Visited Barbados-

I'm trying to decide between doing the St. Nicholas Abbey/Distillery versus Mount Gay. It seems like there's not much of a difference (video, small history lesson, tasting) except a pretty house (at St. Nicholas) but a much better and less expensive time at the bar and closer to port (Mount Gay). Any advice would be appreciated!!

Also, has anyone been to the flower forest? I'm not usually into touristy things, but I do love a pretty garden and it's only $10USD/pp.

And, do you suggest a cab ride or renting a car? Looking for the most economical. After the touristy things outside of Bridgetown, my husband and I just want to relax at a beach close to port (Mullins Bay or Carlisle Bay??!!) and maybe walk around Bridgetown a bit. Any advice?
