Cigars in DR

Hi there! We will be sailing on Carnival Breeze in 11 days, one of our ports of call is the Dominican Republic. I have had a co worker ask me to bring him back some good cigar's from DR. I am not a smoker and know nothing about cigars. Anyone ever purchase any from DR? If so any suggestions?

If you are docking at La Romana port you can find a large selection of good quality cigars at La Flor Cigar Factory & Outlet, 15 minute taxi ride from port.

 

They run a couple of tours or if you are heading to Bayahibe beach you can just visit their shop on the way there (they are 10 minutes from Bayahibe).

You can also find a small selection at Jumbo supermarket in La Romana town. Jumbo also sell a large selection of Dominican rums and coffee at local prices.

 

Tip: cigars offered by the beach vendors will not be in good condition due to the heat and humidity.
