Boxers rock Posted April 14, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 14, 2014 What would be the most economical way to get from downtown to Stanley Park? Can you pay for the HOHO Bus as you get on and off or do you have to buy an all day pass?
Nodales Posted April 14, 2014 #2 Share Posted April 14, 2014 By far the cheapest option is to take public transportation. The #19 bus is just two blocks from the cruise terminal (walk south to West Pender Street). The bus is $2.75 per person and runs every 10 minutes. It's just a 7-minute ride to Stanley Park and you'll get off at the last stop. The bus stop is close to the seawall, the miniature train, the rose gardens, the horsedrawn tour and the Vancouver Aquarium.
Rare martincath Posted April 14, 2014 #3 Share Posted April 14, 2014 If there are 4 of you, a cab may be cheaper - to the park from a lot of downtown is under $10 in cab fare. OTOH Seniors only pay $1.75 on transit, so bus will almost always be the cheapest option for a group with seniors in it. If you want to hire bikes to ride around the park then you can either follow Nodales' info, but get off one stop earlier at Denman & Georgia where there are a ton of bike rental places; find a place renting bikes near your hotel (assuming you're staying in town, some hotels even offer free bikes) or Canada Place (the Trevor Linden Fitness branch at the Convention Centre next door rents them) and ride to and around the park avoiding any extra $ to get there. HOHOs do not allow paying for partial rides. They do allow you to buy the day pass as you board - if you buy in advance there's no discount, but you get a second day of use for free. If you're in town for a couple of days, a first time visitor, and like someone to explain what you're seeing while driving a HOHO can be excellent value. ell52 Posted April 19, 2014 #5 Share Posted April 19, 2014 Thank you for your replies. Will the transit take cash or do you need to buy tickets? Yes, they take cash. But it's exact (CAD) amount only.
