Which area to stay in Seattle?

We'll be in Seattle for a few days pre-cruise next September. We would like to be convenient to the pier if possible. Does anyone know the location of the pier? From what I've read it seems the Downstown area is the best place to stay for the sites. Any opinions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Susan

where the pier is, depends on which line you're sailing.

Celebrity and NCL use Pier 66, a very nice location in the heart of the waterfront area. Marriott Waterfront & the Edgewater are hotels just steps away.

Princess, HAL, and (starting next year) Royal Caribbean use Terminal 30 at the other end of the waterfront, industrial, NOT within walking distance to much of anything except ... maybe ... our sports stadiums.
