Has anyone cruised to Rijeka, Croatia

I'm looking for information about private tours or DIY in Rijeka, Croatia. Our cruise is calling into this port in June 2017 and will be there from9am to 6pm.

 

Any information on "must see" and what is possible to do within that timeframe would be appreciated.

It has been many years since I have been to Rijeka, but you can find very good information from the following:

Rijeka is the former lair of the Austria navy. As such you will find Austrian empire architecture there and nearby Opatija.

 

That said, not that much to be seen locally Most people here go to Rovinj and Pula on the other side of Istria.
