MSC Seaside/Seaview Super Family cabins

I have a Super Family Plus cabin booked on the Seaview. It's 3 connected cabins and my understanding was that it's one price no matter if I put 1 or 10 people in it (with the exception of taxes/fees which are charged per person).

I was going to share with my friend and her family, but now she's not sure if she can go. If they don't go, I would only need 2 cabins. I was thinking of booking 2 separate cabins as backup and asked my TA. But he's adamant that if my friend cancels, the rate can be adjusted.

So - 2 questions:

1) Has anyone changed a Super Family Plus (3 connected cabins) to a Super Family (2 connected cabins) when the Super Family is sold out? The connected cabins I believe can be locked off, so logistically it seems feasible, but does MSC allow this?

2) If I go the route of booking backup cabins, does MSC allow the same person to be booked in more than 1 cabin on the same sailing?

Hoping to get some feedback before I call MSC. Thank you!
