RSM2354 Posted April 4, 2006 #1 Share Posted April 4, 2006 We are on the Pride of Hawaii in June and want to know if anyone can help us plan our excursions in each of the islands. We are planning on renting a car on each island and going it on our own. We want to go Horseback riding on one of the islands but are not sure which one would be best. We are planning on the road to Hana in Maui. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
beachchick Posted April 5, 2006 #2 Share Posted April 5, 2006 My best advice to you is to start by doing an advanced search on this forum only for things like "X excursion" (X = name of island) or "X horseback" (or whatever other activities you enjoy). This will really give you a good start because the question comes up constantly and there are several current and excellent threads right now. As for excursions/activities other than what you've mentioned, it's really hard to give advice without knowing more about your likes/dislikes, ages/activity levels, etc. A couple of quick things: There have been a couple of threads about how good the horseback riding is on the BI. Also, the road to Hana is great, but if this is your first Hawaii trip, you might want to read some of the many threads about it because it is an all day and fairly tiring thing to do. With only 2 days on Maui, I don't necessarily consider it a must-do (unless you are really into the scenic drive thing--in that case, then yes, do it). Last, renting a car is absolutely the way to go. The airports are very close to the ports, and the rental car companies are quite efficient--but do rent in advance as they can sell out during peak times. Have a great time, and please give us a report when you get back. DH and I are planning a PoH cruise this fall and can't wait to hear about how much fun everyone has. beachchick
