kruisenkitty Posted August 16, 2006 #1 Share Posted August 16, 2006 Hi - I will be sailing the Sensation on the 9-21-06 sailing. One of my port stops is Calica Mexico. I am not to interested in any of the excursions that Carnival offers, so I am looking for a beach / resort to hang out at. For example, when I'm in Costa Maya, I go to a certain beach, pay a few bucks for a cab, and then 30 bucks for lunch and open bar. Is there any nice place that is reasonably close to the port and offers some type of "day" package? Thanks everyone!! :D
Cotton Posted August 16, 2006 #2 Share Posted August 16, 2006 Calica is nothing but a working rock quarry. Nothing else there except a few tent vendors. You have to take a cab/bus to go somewhere else. Most go into Playa del Carmen. Cab ride is $10 per cab, not per person. There is a nice public beach in PdC, as well as shopping and some great restaurants on Avenue 5.
niknik Posted August 17, 2006 #3 Share Posted August 17, 2006 I had the absolute best time of my entire life in Calica! Read my long review here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=141568
