30something cruiser Posted July 20, 2004 #1 Share Posted July 20, 2004 We will be on the diamond princess in late September. We have a group of 8 and want to go deep sea fishing. Both Mazatlan and Cabo offer tours through the ship. Which is better and should we book independently or go through the ship.
fish4ever Posted July 22, 2004 #2 Share Posted July 22, 2004 Hello 30 Something Cruiser, Great to hear that you will be enjoying deep sea fishing while visting the Mexican Rivera onboard the Cruise Ship. You will have a very memorable fishing experience along with the others in your group. For setting up your fishing trip, it takes a little more of your time, but it is best to arrange your fishing trip on your own. The reason is the cruise lines will charge anywhere from $135 to $145 U.S. per person and may place you on a boat you would not want to be on and of course from 4 to 6 people per boat when there are only 5 lines max. Cabo is a great place to fish, but most cruise ships will not have much time in that port. Mazatlan is another great choice as you will have more than enough time in this port. Most cruise ships start letting passengers off at 8:00 am with the exception of Carnival which is usually at 9:00 am. I am sure you can find many articles on these boards to help you decide who to choose for your fishing experience, but you may also want to do a little searching online for fishing in mazatlan. that will give you plenty to choose from. There are many things online you will find on fishing, but are not true fishing fleets. Feel free to reply on this board and I or others will be happy to answer any questions that we are allowed to. Another thing to look out for are when a person or company offers too much to beleive. It may not be right or what you will actually be getting. Hope this helps.
