Just back from Radiance

We were on the 1/14/07 cruise. We had a great time and for those who are wondering about the mattress change. They have completed several floors. We were on the 3rd deck and they installed the new frames and beds. What a difference. Our table mates who I think were on the 6th deck hadn't gotten theirs and the husband had a terrible time sleeping until they got him an egg crate. The new mattress are like sleeping at home, very nice. The ship is still beautiful and well maintained and clean. It can use some sprucing up, like the column's in the Solarium could be re-varnished and there are some minor touch up's that would help, but still a beautiful ship. I was surprised by some little things like cups at the Windjammer with the logo's coming off c and paper cups for cold drinks. There were quite alot of adorable babies on the ship (below 6 months), they have an Aqua Tots program, where they have coupled with infant specialist from Fisher Price and come up with a Mommy and Me type program. One was called "Let's Roll". I was interested as I have grandchildren of that age. The children's pool is very nice, slide and water activities that looked very cute.

I have to say that the food has become more and more like you would find in an Appleebee's type restaurant. We ate one night at Portofino's and while pretty good,( beautiful presentation) it was not as good as say Le Bistro on NCL. I asked for milk instead of coffee and it was warm. Just little things but you don't expect such things in a specialty restaurant. The calamari was delicious but the seafood skewer was overdone and kind of tasteless. I have to say alot of things were tasteless in the Dining Room.

You tender into Cozumel, even though on the doc's it says you are docked. I have never tendered into Cozumel, but Freedom of the Seas takes up all the dock space that is available while they rebuild the rest of the other dock. We had great weather, and had a very good time, the conciege lounge is much too small on this ship and it was virtually impossible to get a seat, but the Concierge Joanne was very nice as was her assistant.

The entertainment was very good. We stayed on board at Montego Bay, my husband wanted to relax and have the ship to ourselves. It was lovely and such a treat. I was very happy to see that they enforced the no children policy at the Solarium Pool. So often rules are not enforced and I have to say everyone was very considerate about staying on the smoking side only.. I know this is very disjointed but I am still a little travel weary. Anyway, hope this helps answer some questions that people may have.
