NorCalCruiseGuy Posted May 3, 2007 #1 Share Posted May 3, 2007 We'll be sailing Ft. Lauderdale to Valparaiso in Nomveber '07 on Celebrity Infinity. Any suggestions on shore excursions in any of the following would be appreciated-- Manta, Ecuador Lima (Callao) Peru Arica, Chile La Serena, Chile Time constraints won't let us go to Machu Pichu. Thanks all. If you REALLY want to go to MP, get off the ship in Lima. If is a shame to b that close and not see one of the real wonders of the world. Go to Cusco INDEPENDENTLY and fly home from Lima instead of Valparaiso. Consider all ports south of Lima pretty boring except Valparaiso. If you booked cruise air, you can do air deviation if you need to to allow a couple extra days to get back to Santiago. If you can make arrangements to fly home from Lima, you can do MP for about $400.00pp for 4 days. If you must fly to Santiago to get back to the USA, add in another $400.00. The ship excursions also leave the ship at Lima and rejoin the ship in Arica. Charter flight from Cusco to Arica and the price is about $1700pp. We were on the Infinity repo in November 2006. The ship was having mechanical problems and we did not port in Arica. So quite a few people who wanted to see MP but couldn't justify $1700+pp for the ship excursion got off the ship in Lima, went to MP and either flew home from Lima or flew to Santiago. Manta-grab a cab and head for Montecristi. Buy a Panama hat, go to the market, the cab drivers all know the routine. If you want an independent trip in Lima, please contact me via email. My favorite hotel owner in Lima runs some private tours. I will contact him if you are interested. Then you can make your own arrangements if Luis has anything for you. greatam@earthlink.net
