Question about what to do in Ft. Lauderdale

I've posted a similar question in the Florida Ports of Call thread but thought I'd also ask here. DH and I will disembark at Port Everglades on Sunday morning February 3rd, but our flight out of FLL isn't until 5:00 p.m. He's in a wheelchair, and of course we'll have luggage.

Any thoughts of how we might spend our time?

Thanks.

Have you thought about doing a shore excursion for the day? This will put you back at the airport at noon or so, and still you won't be able to check in, but at least it's something to do, In FLL you can't check in at the airport until 2 hours prior to your flight.

Another option is to take the trolley for the day, but then there is the luggage issue. Still, if you are at the airport early you won't be allowed tio check in.

OTOH you can always get a room for the day at a local (airport) hotel. You'd probably be more comfortable. It's be a plce to store your luggage and you can do your own day trip.
