javier Posted February 24, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 24, 2008 If you have enough time, you can rent a bike with Hot Dog Cycling at Isla Verde. Good luck.

Though we've not gone here with a ship excursion, we've been to Pinones a number of times, and it's a favorite stop for our guests. There's the beach (not the nicest in PR, but a beach none the less), the rugged rocky coastline (be careful walking on the rocks -- they can be sharp!), the little tidal pools (where we've seen all kinds of critters, including a little octopus!), the boardwalk along the beach and through the mangrove forest, and some excellent restaurants. There is one area where there is a natural pool formed between the beach and a rocky ridge. The water in this area only gets about 4 feet deep, and heats up nicely from the sun. It can be rough in the winter (which is spectacular to see), but in the summer it's bath-water warm and smooth. Perfect for the little ones! You can rent bikes for about $5 per hour from a couple of different places. You'll only need 1 or 2 hours to cruise up and down the 11KM boardwalk. From what I've seen, they have bikes of all different sizes, from kids to adults. But it's on a first-come first-serve basis. So it's possible that they may not have the right size bike for you when you get there. You can read more about Pinones on our travel blog at http://www.puertoricodaytrips.com/2007/04/17/pinones-mangrove-forest-nature-boardwalk-waterfront-fun/ Enjoy your visit to Puerto Rico!
