dothow Posted October 6, 2008 #1 Share Posted October 6, 2008 Hi, We are going on the Gem this year on Dec. 27, 2008 to celebrate not only New Years, but also our 35th wedding anniversary on Dec. 30 and renew our vows. This will be our 11th cruise on NCL. However, this is the first one during a holiday. For those who have cruised during New Years how do people dress New Years Eve and how does NCL bring in the New Year? Cruise Critic members thank you for your reply and look forward to hearing from you. Happy Cruising dothow Baltimore, MD

Happy Cruising dothow Baltimore, MD We found that on New Years Eve, alot of people dress up and NCL does put out noisemakers and hats and such....There is a countdown clock above the entrance to the Bliss Lounge and the band does a countdown show out by the pool.....Its a great way to bring in the New Year just remember its usually a busy week so expect a lot of people onboard..... Enjoy your cruise and Happy Anniversary!!!:D
lukes Posted October 6, 2008 #3 Share Posted October 6, 2008 We are also sailing the Gem Dec 27 - come join our roll call, it has been pretty quiet lately but am hoping it will pick up now as we get closer. We did this cruise last year and enjoyed it so much we have booked again. As prg2101 stated most people will dress up, NCL did a nice job last year bringing in the New Year. Parties in all the bars and lounges, main party was on the pool deck. Great time to celebrate not just the New year but other things, congradulations on 35. My wife turned 50 (Dec 31) last year on the Gem and we celebrated our 25th earlier this year on the Dawn.
