Ruins AND Merida

Is it possible to book something to take me to both some ruins (probably dz) AND spend some time in Merida? Last time in Progresso I took a cruise-provided excursion and had a lot of extra time but it was spent at the port shops. I'd really like to make the most of my time in Progreso this go-round. Ruins, sight-see in Merida and local lunch. Is this too much and make it back to the ship on time?? Any suggestions?

Ok, after much research we've opted to spend the day in Merida and skip the ruins this time. Any good suggestions for lunch? We want "authentic local" cuisine possibly somewhere on the Paseo de Montejo but not somewhere too touristy or expensive. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I like Porto El Peregrino on Calle 57 between Calle 60 & 62. Pretty courtyard restaurant and very good food and reasonable. Not on Paseo Montejo though. Pollo Pabill is very good. Very good service. I've eaten there 3 or 4 times and never disappointed.

Chaya Maya has received rave reviews - it's on Calle 62 about a block or two from the Plaza Grande (main square). Note the ladies making the tortillas fresh right there.

My favorite restaurant for traditional Yucatecan food is La Tradicion on 60 street across from the US Consulate.

We are planning to take a cab to the Dzibilchaltun Ruins, hoping to arrive there by 8-8:30. Then from there, head to Merida to explore and have lunch. Will be contacting cab companies to see what our options are.
