I Phone Useage

My wife wants to bring her Droid phone and subscribe to Verizon's International program for the two weeks we are in French Polynesia. Anyone done this and what was the performance?

I have not used any services in FB, but we are just back from a cruise in the Med and as a cheaper alternative to Verizon we used the ship internet and skype. I used skype to phone home and then the internet for uploading pics, checking email, etc and it was all under one bill. Don't know if that helps you, but it worked well for me.

I used my Blackberry throughout the Society Islands. Used text messenging for updates on the LSU-Alabama score from my daughter. Ran into a dead spot at Moorea but got bars on Bora Bora, Huahine, Raiatea and Tahiti. My Blackberry is company provided so I don't know what the cost for this was yet, I should get the bill sometime next week.

We just got back from FP in Oct and a couple used the same system as decribed by DrmnOfMaui and it worked real well and was much less expensive than Verizons International program.
