Restrooms........it had to be asked!

OK folks,

It's time to put all your cards on the table. How are the restrooms around Progreso? I am mainly talking about on the pier, and in the restaurants/stores fronting the Malecon.

We're porting in Progreso in 2 weeks, and being a female, I am beginning to think about logistics - such as where to find a good, clean restroom. Naturally - I've heard some horror stories. Can anyone reassure me??

An important question, for sure, that many would be embarrassed to ask.

Bathrooms in Progreso range from the horrendous to the average. Probably the cleanest would be in the nicer restaurants along the malecon or street along the beach. Be prepared to pay something for using those bathrooms or order something off the menu at their beachfront palapa.

Free bathrooms are in the market area where the shuttle drops you off. I haven't been in the women's bathrooms (not been invited) but the men's is pretty basic.

I've used the women's BR around the market area in Progreso and it's not great but not the worst I've ever seen. I'd take my own TP with me just in case.
