How long is the pier?

I just saw pictures on a different website of the Progreso dock, it looked incredibly long. Is it really long or is it the camera playing tricks on me? If it is really long, how do you get to land and back? I thought Costa Maya was long...

The pier at Progreso is about 6 kilometers long or about 4 miles. It's because of the water depth being shallow quite a ways out. It is the primary commercial port for the Yucatan. There are courtesy busses for cruisers.

I've seen several answers for the lenght of the pier, rangeing from 4 miles to 7miles. So your guess is as good as mine. I have been told that it is the second longest pier in the world. Maybe we can get a rumor started.:rolleyes:
