HELP!?! Getting to Uxmal

We would love to rent an open air jeep to drive to Uxmal but haven't been able to find any info on how to do so. All I've found is the Executive Car Rental place that shut down a while back. If anyone knows anything about car rentals here, please please please, let me know.

If not, does anyone know if they have non-carnival busses that go to Uxmal? Thanks in advance!!!!!!

We are interested in going to Uxmal on our own too, but I'm a little worried about how to work it out. There are several of the major rental car companies in Merida near calle 60 (Avis, Budget, Hertz), and you can easily reserve them online through Orbitz, Priceline, etc. but I'm worried about how easy it will be to get to Merida from Progreso..

I was hoping to get hdawson to respond with some advice! :) He seems to be very knowledgeable on the area.
