Thank you, notamermaid, for your frequent & knowledgeable updates. We are on Tauck Amsterdam to Basel on Aug10 & are following your posts with great interest & concern. Hoping the recent rain helps the river water levels.
We are starting a Regent cruise in a few weeks and have three days pre-cruise in Santiago. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with the ship’s pre-cruise tours. We might consider doing a tours by locals instead if the ships tour is just a drive-by look.
One day is a Santiago city tour & a drive with lunch at the Santa Rita winery with tour & tasting. That day is from 9 AM until 5 PM.
Another day is driving to Portillo with a lunch at a local restaurant, and visiting Laguna Del Inka. That day is from 9 AM until 6 PM.
Our last day we have a guided visit of Valparaiso for an hour and a half & a cable car ride before going to the pier.
These seem like long days and I just want to make sure our time is well spent.
Thank you for any suggestions or comments.
