  1. Hello! Has anyone used the new smart elevators, specifically on the Carnival Horizon? If so, your thoughts on them? Do they work the way they said they're supposed to work? Thanks and Happy Cruising!
  2. Hello! Has anyone ever had an issue in bringing gouda wheels or stroopwafels back on the ship after buying them in Aruba? I know the gouda wheels are in wax and the stroopwafels would still be in their original wrapping but since they're food products, I wasn't sure if there would be a ban from the cruise line (specifically Carnival). Thanks and Happy Cruising!
  3. Thank you all so much for your information!! Your help is exactly what Cruise Critic is all about! 🙂
  4. Hello! We'll be going to Aruba for the first time this May 2024. Can anyone tell me how to find this statue? Since it's touristy, I'm going to assume it's near the cruise terminal but you know what happens when one assumes! 🙂 Thanks so much and Happy Cruising!
  5. Here’s your chance to determine where we’ll be diving into pastries on St Martin / Sint Maarten! 😋 (A little background: We had been to Sarafina’s Bakery in St Martin pre-hurricane and had always planned on going back. From what I hear now though, it’s hard to find in their new location and that the ambience is not as nice and accommodating as it used to be so we’re looking for a new place to try.) Please list your favorite bakery (that you’ve been to) on St Martin / Sint Maarten. Posting a name is good enough but feel free to go into further detail like why you loved it so much. So come on fellow Cruise Critic cruisers, let your opinions be heard! 😊 Thanks so much and Happy Cruising!
  6. wemjam and MistyRo76, Thanks so much for your responses!
  7. I remember doing the doc dance and miss those days! There was something super special about getting a big, thick envelope from Carnival filled with your cruise papers! I still try to capture the magic by occasionally checking how many days out I originally booked the cruise compared to the current number of days to go. Fortunately, and most excitingly, the number always goes down! 😊 Examples: Carnival Magic 12/2-12/10/23 Booked at 388 days. Now at 121 days! Carnival Horizon 4/27- 5/5/24 Booked at 784 days (!). Now at 268 days! I've already started packing for the December 2023 cruise! 🤣 Happy Cruising!
  8. Hello! I'll be doing a vow renewal on the Horizon next April 2024 and wondered if the salon offered any facial makeup services (eyes, blush, lipstick, etc.)? I've seen services for hair and nails but nothing for makeup so thought I'd ask if anyone recently used the salon to get their makeup done? If yes: Were you satisfied with the results? Do they use their makeup or do you supply your own? Will they apply eye lashes if I provide them? When/how did you book the reservation? (I don’t see anything listed under salon services. I hesitate waiting until we board since I’d like to make sure the time we need is available.) Do you remember about how much it was? And about how long was the appointment? Feel free to add any other information I may have missed asking about! 😊 Thanks so much and Happy Cruising!!
  9. Years ago on the TV show Mythbusters, they tested multiple anti sea sickness remedies. As VentureMan mentioned, ginger capsules were the winner. Ginger capsules are easily found in any pharmacy (e.g., Walgreens) in the vitamin section. I've even taken them when feeling nauseous at home and they worked pretty fast. Two other helpful items are: - Eating a green apple (can usually be found in the buffet). This was mentioned by the Carnival employee conducting the ship's tour. - Looking at the horizon (something to do with equilibrium). This may help decide whether to go up on deck or to get a balcony/ocean view stateroom. As for stateroom location, as others have mentioned, low and mid ship has the least movement. Wishing you and your DIL all the best on your cruise!
  10. Hi! I had asked this same question to John Heald. He replied that they’re anticipating the Alaska 2025 dates be open at the end of this summer (2023). Of course, things can always change and it could be sooner or later! LOL But that’s the last I heard. Have a great cruise!
  11. Crewsweeper, You've always been such a wealth of information and are always willing to share it - thank you!! I'll go check out Facebook. P.S. Didn't you used to live in Wisconsin? Or am I totally confused?? LOL Thanks again!
  12. Hello! Has anyone recently been to Serafina's Bakery in Marigot St Martin? I found old information about it being totaled by a hurricane (around 2017) but was supposedly rebuilt at a different address (info from 2020). We have a cruise planned in 2023 and would love to visit this bakery again - it was absolutely awesome! Any updated information (is it still in business, the new address, etc.) would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks so much and happy cruising! 🙂
  13. Thank you all so much for your responses! It sounds like the best way to go is to use my Platinum luggage tags for all the luggage in the cabin. Happy Cruising!
  14. Hello! My wife and I are both platinum and are sharing a stateroom with another guest who is not platinum. I know the third guest will be able to board at the same time but my question is about the luggage tags and luggage delivery. It’s been a while since I’ve cruised but from what I remember, the luggage tags for all people in a room indicated Priority. Now that they’ve done away with Priority boarding, two of the luggage tags indicate Platinum and the third luggage tag has no indication. So here’s the question (yes, I know, finally! LOL) – When the luggage is dropped off at the pier, will all the luggage be delivered at the same time due to being in the same stateroom? Or will the platinum luggage be delivered separately from the third guest’s luggage? Would it be beneficial to put the platinum luggage tags on all the luggage regardless of the passenger name? Thanks so much for your help!
