We spent 4 full days in Barcelona in 2017 and it was perfect...we spent 3 days in the city and 1 day taking a day trip to Montserrat.

We had a similar issue and asked our room steward and waiters to use the preferred name...they did happily. Obviously, that doesn't cover all staff, but it does cover the ones you interact with frequently. Another idea off the top of my head...what about putting a sticker on your card that says, 'please call me ____'?

What are you interested in seeing? Unfortunately, LA is not the most walkable city...and as stated previously, traffic is horrendous...although Saturday shouldn't be as bad as weekdays. Once you narrow down what you're interested in seeing, we can try and help with where to stay. There is nothing around LAX, and there's not much to see in Long Beach, except maybe the Queen Mary. My personal suggestion for out of state visitors is the Griffith Observatory...it's beautiful, free (except for parking), and you can see the Hollywood sign from it. The Getty is great if you like museums. Venice Beach and the Santa Monica Pier are traditional tourist destinations, but are overrun by homeless. My DH (a retired LA police officer) would say to go to see Orange County beaches instead. 🤣
