Transportation Between FLL and Miami Beach

We have a few days before leaving on our cruise out of FLL. Our hotel is in FLL but we would like to spend a day on Miami beach. There are 6 in our party. Any suggestions on the most cost effective/convenient ways to travel there besides car rentals? Thanks for any advice!
