JBeefy Posted March 7, 2005 #1 Share Posted March 7, 2005 There will be 4 of us in St. Maartan for a day. We are all capable of walking/hiking if needed. We own our own snorkel gear as well. We are looking for the best beach to snorkel, but would like to have the ability to eat some food, have a couple drinks, and as a bonus listen to some reggae music at the same location. We will be in St. Maartan in the middle of March. Does anyone know of a place that matches these desires as best as possible? Any help is appreciated! Thanks! kal Posted March 7, 2005 #2 Share Posted March 7, 2005 Best beach to snorkel - Baie Rouge or Orient at Green Cay Eat some food - All the beaches; Orient has best quality and diversity Have a couple drinks - All beaches; Orient has a number of actual bars Listen to some reggae music - Orient has 3-4 places with LIVE bands
caribbean crazy Posted March 7, 2005 #3 Share Posted March 7, 2005 We've been looking for this answer too! I have not heard any mention of Green Cay before. Whereabouts is that? Could you describe the snorkeling there - coral and fish? Thanks!
kal Posted March 8, 2005 #4 Share Posted March 8, 2005 I have not heard any mention of Green Cay before. Whereabouts is that? Green Cay is a small island at the reef about 150 yds off of Orient Beach. Link up with the booth renting jet skis and they can get you over to Green Cay and back. Snorkeling at St. Maarten is okay but by no means spectacular. Over time hurricanes have damaged the invertebrate community and the recovery is slow.
