Hobbins Posted April 15, 2011 #1 Share Posted April 15, 2011 Tell me about it. Anyone Know how its made/recipe? Where is the best place to try one in Old San Juan? Anything I should know before getting one?
orquidia Posted April 15, 2011 #2 Share Posted April 15, 2011 In France people drink Cafe Au Lait, in Italy they drink Cappuccino and in Puerto Rico they drink Café con Leche. You need to use Puerto Rican coffee of course (this strong coffee is produced only for Puerto Rico's consumption and it is the coffee that is served all around the island, you do not need to ask for it...unless you decide go to an international famous american chain coffee store that uses foreign coffee) and it is prepared with steamed milk. Many like to add caribbean brown sugar 'Azucar Morena' to it (do not confuse this one with Hawaii 'sugar in the raw', it is different in flavor). One 6oz cup: $1.

Hobbins Posted April 18, 2011 Author #4 Share Posted April 18, 2011 Can't wait to try it. Anyone know if its drip method, or is it boiled, pressed or something other? Is it brewed with water then milk added or made directly with milk as I have seen some do?
RobtErskine Posted April 19, 2011 #5 Share Posted April 19, 2011 Can't wait to try it. Anyone know if its drip method, or is it boiled, pressed or something other? Is it brewed with water then milk added or made directly with milk as I have seen some do? In most places it's espresso with steamed milk added after the shot is pulled, which (IMO) is the best version. In some places they will add steamed milk to brewed coffee unless you specify espresso; watch to see how they're making it and you'll know if you need to be specific.
