Here is what you can do in the area:

1. Brevard Zoo

2. A 2-hour boat ride on the Indian River Lagoon with Island Boat Lines http://www.islandboatlines.com/Home_Page.php

3. An airboat ride at Lone Cabbage Fish Camp http://www.twisterairboatrides.com/

4. Kennedy Space Center

5. Ron Jon's Surf Shop (for looking or buying)

Of course, you'll need a car for most or all of these.

We will be having a stop at Port Canaveral as a port of call and was looking for some recs for the day. We will be in port from 7am-6pm. Interested in hearing any suggestions!

We just got back on the Pride. We did Cocoa Beach on our own. Rented a car and then drove a very short distance to Lori Wilson Beach Park. There was free parking, a bathhouse that was functional, a vendor renting boogie boards. The beach was nice, not very crowded as it is not near any hotels. Just mostly local families and surfers. There are lifeguards. I would recommend stopping by a store and picking up some drinks and snacks as there is nothing there to buy, nor can you rent any umbrellas or chairs. Take towels from the ship with you to sit on. We stayed on the beach for a few hours then drove to Ron Jon's Surf Shop as it was getting very hot. It was fun exploring.

If you do not rent a car, what transportation options are there from the port? Just taxi's? Any shuttle busses to Cocoa beach or other area?

If just taxi's, what can one expect to pay?

A taxi would be around $15 to central Cocoa Beach.

There is also a shuttle to Cocoa Beach. Look for ladies with signs in the terminal as you disembark. I think it was $6 pp one way. We did not use it but I did see signs. Probably drops you off at Ron Jon's Surf Shop.
