MrsSgtHopp Posted July 6, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 6, 2009 We are considering staying there the night before we cruise. Has anyone stayed there?
tourlink99 Posted July 9, 2009 #2 Share Posted July 9, 2009 If your talking about the Sailport in Tampa, its an older refurbished hotel in a great location, nice big rooms and free shuttle from the airport and locations within 3 miles, not to mention a good price. MrsSgtHopp Posted July 9, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted July 9, 2009 Yes, several friends flying in the day before we cruise and we thought a 2br suite would be good for all of us. Is there anything to do nearby?
ekermit Posted July 9, 2009 #4 Share Posted July 9, 2009 We will also be staying at the Sailport Resort and are curious as to what is around there to eat (sit down places, not McDonalds and such) as well as see and do.
tourlink99 Posted July 10, 2009 #5 Share Posted July 10, 2009 There are restaurants, some real nice ones nearby. There is also a beach there on Tampa Bay. Not one of our nicer ones, but still ok. Take their shuttle to Westshore or International Malls. Lots and Lots of restaurants, movie theaters, and many ethnic restaurants near by. blessedwith12 Posted July 14, 2009 #7 Share Posted July 14, 2009 We stayed at the Sailport in March. It was about a 10-15 minute drive to the port. We had driven down, and we went over to Clearwater beach the night before the cruise and visited Pier 60. It was a very fun, festive atmosphere and really got us into cruise mode. We liked our room at the Sailport-and appreciated the security of the parking garage. About the only negative I can think of was breakfast: coffee was the only beverage and they just had pre-wrapped danish. Knowing we would soon be on our cruise with more food than we know what to do with - this really wasn't a big issue.
tourlink99 Posted July 15, 2009 #8 Share Posted July 15, 2009 Breakfast is not a problem. There is a Waffle House 10 minutes a way!!:)
long_shot45 Posted July 15, 2009 #9 Share Posted July 15, 2009 How is the best way to reserve? Direct or thru priceline, etc.
ekermit Posted July 15, 2009 #10 Share Posted July 15, 2009 We did it direct on their website. A few weeks after we reserved I checked the rates again and they'd dropped $12 a night. We called them and they gave us the new rate with no problem.
