wellfocused Posted June 2, 2012 #1 Share Posted June 2, 2012 There seems to be much confusion on how much a day pass costs for the Radisson grand lucayan resort in Freeport. The resort is sending replies for a cost that ranges anywhere between $10 PP up to $20 PP. I have searched all over this board and everyone seems to be getting different emails from the resort and and I can't make heads or tails of it. Seems to change from day to day ( maybe depends on who answers the email) and the resort doesn't even know what time of year we will be there. I don't want to get there expecting to pay $10 each for our family of 4 and end up paying $20 each. So... How much did you pay for an adult pass? Childrens pass? And when were you there? jdyer09 Posted June 2, 2012 #2 Share Posted June 2, 2012 We are going in february but we also went there in 2010. We we're quoted $20, got to the towel shack guy on the beach and paid $10. I didn't ask questions, he gave us our stuff and off we went. If budget $$25 (don't forget taxi $5-10pp/each way, I don't remember maybe $8 rt) and you should be ok. And hopefully have extra left. I really think the cost depends on the time.of year, ships in port, etc., but that's only my guess, no factual basis behind it. Have fun tho! katti michele Posted June 2, 2012 #3 Share Posted June 2, 2012 I won't be too much help because I haven't gone yet, but I emailed them mid-May in regards to our Sept cruise and this is what I was told from Martha Mosse: "Thanks for your email. If you are travelling via a Carnival Cruise, passes for the resort are sold on board the ship. It is called “Radisson All Inclusive Beach Break”. If you are not visiting via a Carnival Cruise, passes are sold at the Cruise Harbour or from our booth on Retail Street at the resort. The cost of the day passes are presently $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under." I don't know if the Carnival excursion she is referring to is old or what because it is not listed on Carnival's website and when I googled it, nothing came up. It's annoying that everyone is getting mixed responses, especially because i'm such a planner and not knowing gives me such anxiety!

I am also trying to come up with an approximate budget to go by and don't want any surprises. You might want to try this... I did read in a couple of other threads where you can offer $10 PP if they tell you it is $20. Some people had success with this. Might be worth a try. :)

sccoast Posted June 3, 2012 #9 Share Posted June 3, 2012 [i don't want to get there expecting to pay $10 each for our family of 4 and end up paying $20 each. So... How much did you pay for an adult pass? Childrens pass? And when were you there? 3/2011 we paid nothing - walked right on with about 20,000 college students, barely a place to put a towel on the sand. 5/2011 walked up expecting to pay nothing and had to pay $30 - was wondering why so many people were walking AWAY from the beach. we pretty much had the place to ourselves, all the pools and beach, had a shaded cabana area near the pool and also loungers in the sun. we took a $5 taxi from the port. gracie65 Posted June 4, 2012 #10 Share Posted June 4, 2012 I also don't see that excursion listed on carnival's website. I just looked through all of them and it's not there. This isn't a Carnival excursion but one you do on your own. Usually saves close to half price then ships options. Just make sure to watch your clock and be back on time. What we are saying is that the hotel (Raddison) is telling everyone that it IS a carnival excursion. from the Radisson...Thanks for your email. It could be seasonal rates they are quoting. I have been and it is beautiful. We got our passes at the towel hut. $20.00pp. The good thing is $20.00 is the highest they are quoting so expect it to be that and have a nice surprise if you get there and it's less!!!LOL

Did they give you towels for that $20 PP? or did you bring your own? the price included the towels. Very nice not to have to lug yours off the ship. When we were there it was in September and The Reef Village section was the only one opened. They were doing renovations on their second property. When they are both open the pass includes both properties when they are open. On our walk from the taxi we went down a walkway going behind the casino. Once we got to the beach we had people coming out of the woodwork trying to sell us stuff or rent us beach chairs. When you get almost to the end of the walk you will see a right turn going toward the Reef Village. Stay this direction and try to avoid actually walking on the beach. Once you get to the towel hut the pool will be there and also a set of steps going down to the beach if you want to check it out then. We had a wrist band after paying so we didn't get hounded afterwards.

The e-mail she sent me says "towels not included" so maybe the $10 rate is without towels and the $20 is with towels and like you said maybe it give you access to more of the property for the higher rate. Either way it's not a big deal on the price difference. We just want to have a great time. Thanks again!

That sounds about like when you contact any company with multiple employees you get multiple answers!!!LOL I never contacted the hotel before I went. I got my info. on this thread. Maybe someone will post that has been more recently. It was September 2010 when I was there last.
NASCAR Bubba Posted June 4, 2012 #17 Share Posted June 4, 2012 We were there in early May, $10 per person. Towels not included but saw lots of Carnival towels around property. The amount charged depends on the number of guest booked. I would do it again.
bobbiejean Posted June 4, 2012 #18 Share Posted June 4, 2012 Was at this resort on May 19th. Paid 10.00 each but no towel. Loved it. Pretty beach nice pool, hot tub and drink shak. Would go again . Was 8 of us.
jburke1566 Posted July 5, 2012 #19 Share Posted July 5, 2012 I went to this resort on my first cruise and booked the excursion through Carnival. Had no idea it was going to be at the Radisson becs it was only advertised as a shopping/beach break or some such. I paid $40 but that included the transportation also.
