shheriii Posted March 28, 2013 #1 Share Posted March 28, 2013 Hi Everyone! I am gearing up for my third cruise on April 20th super excited :)) In true fashion, I am working out hard core in what time I have left before it. I feel like I work out a lot (at least 5 days a week a mixture of cardio/weight training) but feel like I am not getting the results I want. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism back in 2006 and have been on medication ever since. My levels are in the upper normal level, so my levels are fine. I weigh 118 lbs. and haven't gained or lost weight in forever. My goal when working out isn't to lose weight, but to get some definition...but I feel like my hypothyroidism hinders that!! I don't eat crappy and not super healthy either, but I stay away from sweets and fast food--so I know it isn't my diet.. Does anyone else here have hypothyroidism? Do you think it hinders your fitness goals?
DVCTiff Posted October 31, 2014 #2 Share Posted October 31, 2014 Hi Shherii - I've had Hashimoto's but have never heard that any Thyroid disorder affects definition. Definition is controlled by diet, in some cases, and genetics plus workout. You have to do a fair amount of challenging weight lifting and reduce fat to get definition. 118 sounds like an amazing weight at any height. KayFit Posted January 12, 2015 #3 Share Posted January 12, 2015 Get a body fat reading. If it's high for your age then I would personally change your diet to be more strict. I know someone with that condition and she didn't see results until she became a vegetarian. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
