San Pedro: disembarkation and hiring a car

Recommended Posts

NCL says we arrive at 8am in San Pedro on a Sunday. We are not flying out until Monday--so there is no mad rush to get to airport on time.

If I hire car instead of taking a shuttle--what time should I tell them to pick us up and how does it work at the port? Is there a place marked to go to? Like at airports? Or is it a free for all? Is there a place I could tell him to meet us that is easier? Like...is there a coffee shop or someplace next to port? Or is it a long haul out?

Be VERY careful if you rent a car in Long Beach in getting BACK in time. You 'may' not allow yourself enough time to return back to the port (LA traffic) and since things are SOOO spread out in that area, it will probably take you longer to get from Point A to Point B than you ancitipate.

I don't mean to be a downer, but I grew up in that area and people that 'aren't aware' SORELY underestimate the time it takes to get anywhere and I would hate to have you miss the boat!!! (and they WILL leave without you!)

There is NOTHING in that area as far as coffee shops either - it's an international shipping harbor.
